Music Classes for Junior Piano

Dynamic, interactive and comprehensive, Christchurch Music Academy’s Junior Piano classes are based on the Encore-on-Keys holistic piano & musicianship group course for 5 and 6 year olds – designed to teach all-round fundamental skills and train your child’s musical ear.

Developed in line with Christchurch Music Academy’s innovative Listen-Sing-Play-Read-Write philosophy to accelerate learning, our Junior Piano classes will help your child build a strong foundation for piano and develop intrinsic musicality – supported by gentle theory. By the time your child completes this course they will be playing piano really proficiently plus they will have acquired the key musical skills of reading music, identifying pitch, singing in tune and understanding rhythm. 

Our updated Encore curriculum also utilises a unique whole-pattern methodology to promote quicker, more accurate learning, designed to support all learning styles.  Classes incorporate percussion, tuned instruments and props to ensure your child's time with us is always exciting, interactive & FUN! 

Our expertly developed and engaging Junior Piano classes involve:

• Tuned instruments to create a multi-layered approach and to support concepts of pitch
• FUN, engaging group games to nurture note reading and to gently reinforce theoretical concepts

Our Junior Piano course is limited to a maximum of 8 students per class, is 45 minutes in duration and is attended once per week. Our studios are equipped with a digital piano for each child plus we supply a range of instruments, props & resources to support learning.  Our colourful Book & CD Set is $49.50 which includes a free set of flash cards for home use to ensure maximum benefit for your child!  There are four books in the Junior series, with each unit designed to span approximately two school terms.  The duration of the whole course is two years.   At completion your child will be ready to move onto our  advanced course programme 'Encore - On- Keys Achiever Series'.
